“I think there’s a little bit of schizophrenia going on here,” Melanie Lovatt, senior LNG finance adviser at Poten & Partners, said during a webinar on Europe’s search for new gas supplies.

“On the one hand, you’ve got this desire (political imperative) to get gas … very quickly, quicker than LNG infrastructure can manage. On the other hand, you have still a very strong desire to decarbonize,” Lovatt said. Poten & Partners is an international advisory firm on oil, gas and shipping markets.
