Weather or Not

Last week the Energy Intelligence Agency (EIA) released its annual winter fuels outlook, outlining what the Department of Energy’s analysts expect winter will bring for one of the world’s largest energy consumers. On October 18th, industry participants gathered in midtown Manhattan to hear Dr. Richard Newell, the Administrator of the EIA, present the organization’s forecasts at the <br />New York Energy Forum. Dr. Newell explained that while the United States depends largely on natural gas to warm homes and businesses, low temperatures also drive demand for middle distillates, namely heating oil, as temperatures drop and more fuel is burned to keep Jack Frost at bay.
