TradeWinds: How tanker chartering and oil trade flows were impacted by Strait of Hormuz closure

July 13, 2026 Crude tanker fixtures and cargo volumes have been battered by the war in the Middle East Gulf, according to figures released by Poten & Partners. The US broker said the crisis has had a profound impact on oil and tanker markets.

“Effectively removing the [Middle East] Gulf from the tanker spot market for four months has dented fixture volumes,” it said.
