TradeWinds: Sentiment climbs for spot LNG carriers in second half

31 May 2018: “Poten & Partners head of LNG chartering Steen Kyvsgaard says the new US volumes coming in will be “a game changer”.”

“Poten’s LNG shipping demand multiplier, which estimates that 1.32 vessels of about 160,000 cbm were required to lift one mtpa of LNG in 2017, is noticeably higher for US volumes, Kvysgaard says.”

“In 2017, it rose to 1.76 vessels for the US, as cargoes out of Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG ramped up, and has touched 2.0 vessels for these shipments in the first quarter of 2018.”
