Power in Numbers

As if an extension of the arm of US bureaucracy, the tanker market is slugging along relentlessly with freight levels capable of beating down even the most optimistic.  Unlike the US Congress which takes summer recess for the month of August, tankers are here to stay.  However, after July’s routing of positive returns on both the dirty and clean side – which left earnings on some voyages with negative earnings – the futilitarian thought process may have many shipowners looking for a break from what could be a long month ahead.
