Covid-19 creates diverging paths for product demand

When analyzing demand prospects for product tankers, analysts take into account differences in projections for the various refined products, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.  Regional variations are also being considered. 

Some areas are growing faster than others and certain regions are short of certain products, while others are traditionally long.  Covid-19 has upended a lot of these traditional relationships and typical rules of thumb no longer work.  This has had significant implications for the product tanker market.
