LNG World Shipping: LNG18 – Expansion in the Asia-Pacific Markets

12, May 2016: “Poten & Partners natural gas analyst Ming Cai discussed gas-market liberalisation in China, once seen as the key market for LNG growth. Some now question that assumption, after China’s annual LNG imports fell for the first time last year, down 1.1 per cent to 19.5 million tonnes.Mr Ming forecast that Chinese demand for LNG will increase to some 480 billion m³ a year – a five-fold increase on 2010. However, there are major barriers to growth, despite China’s continued – relatively – strong expansion and plans to raise the share of gas in its energy mix.”
