Bangladesh Finally Receives First Commissioning Cargo After Long Delay

18 September 2018:

After months of delay, Bangladesh has finally received a commissioning cargo at the new Moheshkhali Floating LNG facility (MLNG), its first floating and storage regasification unit (FSRU).

Commissioning began in late April and took several months due to a combination of technical issues, bad weather, poor underwater visibility and strong currents. The delay was originally attributed to a leak in a gas pipeline, but commissioning was further delayed by rough weather conditions in the Bay of Bengal. The challenging conditions left few windows for commissioning work by Excelerate, the terminal operator that supplied the Excellence FSRU.

Excellence, which has 138,000-m3 of LNG storage capacity, can send 500 MMcf/d of regasified LNG into the Bangladesh pipeline system.
