  • Summer Asphalt Institute meeting took place in Kansas City this week.
  • East Coast retail asphalt prices were mostly steady, with few location ranges adjusted. Flux prices were steady.
  • Wholesale East Coast asphalt prices varied widely–both higher and lower prices reported.
  • Midwest retail markets were status quo in most areas this week.
  • A Midwest wholesale barge sale was reported at a significantly lower price. Wholesale VTB’s were moving to the Gulf Coast by barge.  Wholesale rail prices were static.
  • Gulf Coast retail and wholesale asphalt/flux prices are steady this week.
  • Rocky Mountain wholesale prices reported as steady for August–retail mostly flat too.
  • West Coast prices were unchanged this week, along with Hawaii and Alaska.
  • Asphalt selling and posted prices are status quo in western Canada.
  • Retail prices decreased in Quebec and Ontario. Posted prices also went down in Montreal.
  • Oil prices surge higher this week. Sept WTI closes at $44.49 up $2.51 a bbl for the week.
  • October Brent crude climbs to $46.97 a bbl, up $2.70 for the week.
  • Western Canadian WCS crude rises by $3, to just over $30 a bbl FOB Alberta.
