Update on Developments in the Middle East

March 1: The conflict continues and has intensified after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top commanders. A provisional leadership council has been formed. Iran’s military and the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have retaliated with missiles and drone strikes across the region, targeting U.S. and allied positions. There has been both directly targeted and collateral damage of those positions. So far, three U.S. service members have been killed in action. Global leaders are urging a return to talks as concerns mount over uncontrollable escalation and broader regional war. So far, neither side has targeted energy infrastructure. Download the PDF
