TradeWinds: ‘Small-scale LNG boom’ emerging in Latin America, Poten says

May 22, 2025 Latin America is experiencing rising interest in the use of small-scale LNG, according to a broker and consultant at Poten & Partners. Senior LNG analyst Sergio Chapa said buyers in the region have lower per capita energy usage, are price sensitive and often seasonal, so they cannot commit to long-term volumes. Speaking on a webinar about LNG in the region, Chapa said that instead, producers are shipping in full cargoes to import terminal storage and then trucking volumes to industrial users.
