TradeWinds: China’s LNG demand wanes just as global volumes start to ramp up

December 10, 2025 Poten senior LNG analyst for Asia-Pacific Irwin Yeo said on a webinar that there is a tendency sometimes for people to overestimate Asia’s ability to soak up the LNG surplus. The consultancy’s global head of business intelligence, Jason Feer, said some 220 mtpa of new LNG supply growth is under construction and coming onstream in what is already a 420-mtpa market.
