We have reached the middle of the year. It is time to take stock of the fixture volumes in the tanker and see if we can observe any movements in the rankings of the largest dirty spot charterers (yes, Unipec is still on top). The overall volume of reported dirty spot fixtures in H1 2018 was only slightly higher (+0.6%) than in the same period last year (5,401 vs 5,367). However, the volume of cargo that was moved increased by 9%, indicating an underlying trend favouring the utilization of larger vessels (more VLCCs and Suezmaxes).
