Mozambique Projects Close to Offtake Deals, Targeting mid-2019 FIDs

27 December 2018:

Sponsors of Mozambique’s two large-scale land-based liquefaction projects are close to finalizing LNG offtake agreements that will allow them to raise funds and make final investment decisions (FID) by mid-2019.

If all goes as planned, Anadarko-led Mozambique LNG and ExxonMobil-Eni-led Rovuma LNG will reach final sanction for around 28 MMt/y of LNG capacity and raise a total of $30 billion in debt for their project financings next year. Mozambique LNG’s official request for funding will be launched in early December and Rovuma LNG’s request is expected to go out by the first quarter of 2019.
