JUNE 2026
LNG buyers in Thailand continue to advance their respective term contracting plans.
State-run importer PTT’s trading arm signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Brunei LNG in late May, and more contract details have emerged. PTT is also in talks for more term deals, both as a buyer and a seller.
State-controlled power utility EGAT is advancing its request-for-proposal (RFP) for a long-term supply agreement.
Private-sector power producers, meanwhile, appear focused on spot and short-term supply, at least for now. Gulf Energy issued a tender in early June for a three-year contract, while B. Grimm bought a spot cargo in the same month.
PTT Trading secures Brunei LNG volumes
PTT International Trading (PTTT) signed an SPA with Brunei LNG for some 280,000 t/y of volumes over nine years from early 2028. This is equivalent to around four standard-sized LNG cargoes for every contract year.
The deal was achieved via bilateral negotiations, which likely started before the US and Israel declared war on Iran in end-February.
