Sky’s The Limit

The recent run-up in crude oil prices has led many to speculate that the emotional threshold of $100 per barrel could be right around the corner. September 2008 was the last time the monthly average crude oil price broke $100 per barrel before falling precipitously to nearly half of that level by April 2009. Two and a half years after its peak of over $140 per barrel, financial regulators continue to debate the root cause of the rapid price increase while trying to craft preventative legislation to inhibit a repeat experience.
