JERA Focuses on Creating Demand in New Markets for LNG

11 June 2018:

Japan’s JERA wants to use its LNG supply portfolio and its experience in the power sector to develop LNG-to-power projects outside of Japan, especially in new markets in Australia, Southeast Asia and South Asia.

One of its projects, the Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) joint venture, has already received information about the cost of providing a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for what is known as the East Coast Gas Project, which would supply LNG and power to industrial customers in the Australian state of New South Wales beginning in June 2020.

The Japanese company has teams in Tokyo and Singapore specializing in integrated and non-integrated LNG import and power projects. They work on projects that would create new LNG demand in countries including Australia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
