BRIEF: Police intercept sedan packed with at least 13 illegal immigrants

July 31--LA JOYA -- Thirteen immigrants were arrested early Friday morning after illegally entering the United States, police said.

La Joya police officers tried to make a routine stop of a blue Ford Crown Victoria suspected of having illegal window tinting when the driver sped away, said La Joya Police Chief Jose Del Angel.

Police chased the vehicle for about two miles before the driver jumped out of the car and took off running, the chief said. Officers discovered nine undocumented immigrants in the main cabin of the car and four in the trunk. The driver was able to get away on foot.
